Description
: The PELHAM single-break cherry roller bit from Trust has a relatively fine finish to limit the asperities that could be uncomfortable for the horse's tongue. It offers mobility to the barrel, encouraging the horse to maintain a light contact. It's an interesting bit for a horse at ease with its mouthpieces, which can weigh down the hand with straight bits.
The pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a greater or lesser lowering effect, depending on the size of the shanks and its installation (two or four rein adjustment, rings, curb chain). It's ideal for powerful horses and/or those with a high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit. Curb protectors are recommended for sensitive horses.
> Sold with curb chain
Material
Sweet iron: Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes on contact with moisture in the mouth and air. Oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates saliva production. This corresponds to the effect of sugar given to the horse at the start of a session, but allows this sweet taste to be diffused throughout the work. As a result, this alloy ensures good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse make contact with the mouthpiece. Oxidation modifies the appearance of the bit as the session progresses.
