L'avis de l'expert
The Ported Barrel bit belongs to the family of locked bits, in which the movement of the joint is limited to approximately 5%. Its arched shape and tongue port provide maximum space for the horse's tongue, helping to avoid the risk of tongue pinching. The mouthpiece slightly transfers pressure to the corners of the lips and the bars rather than the tongue. It helps achieve better contact while ensuring that the horse does not lean on the bit.It also offers independent action of each rein, making it possible to lift one shoulder more than the other thanks to the ability of one ring to rotate independently from the other. This mouthpiece is particularly well suited to horses that do not tolerate pressure on the tongue and may react by, for example, shaking their head. The loose rings provide soft contact without leverage and allow easy play through the fingers to help relax the horse's forehand.
Material
Sweet Iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
