Expert opinion
Fager Maria has everything you could want from a bit! It is incredibly comfortable, featuring 100% super-smooth surfaces, including the joints. Combined with the titanium material, this gives you a consistent feeling in the hand without the horse overreacting when you take the reins, but still offers a light feeling. Fager's smooth joints are designed to never press against the sides of the palate or create uneven pressure over the bars. It makes the pressure over the tongue more gentle. The small tongue relief, in combination with the smooth joints, makes this bit a good option for horses with a sensitive tongue who can open their mouth, pull the reins, and move the tongue around.
The loose rings offer a soft contact without leverage and allow easy play in the fingers to relax the horse's forehand. This bit is an excellent option for a sensitive horse that may tend to lean on a straight anatomical bit.
If you prefer a thinner bit, we recommend the bradoon version Mary instead, which has a 12 mm thickness. The design is the same, but the mouthpiece is slimmer and the bit rings are slightly smaller in diameter.
Material
Titanium : The titanium alloy has several advantages. First of all, it is an ultra-light bit that is soft to the touch, which makes it more discreet for the horse and therefore more comfortable. It helps to relieve tension in the cervical region. Titanium is relaxing, it promotes the production of saliva, which helps to relax the neck muscles. The titanium is covered with dioxide which makes it anti-bacterial.
