The curb gag bit is similar to a gag bit with a leather strap that applies pressure to the chin. When reins tension is significant, this relieves pressure on the horse's mouth by redirecting the action of the hand to the back of the noseband. As a result, the horse remains calmer, stabilizes its head posture by shifting its weight backward, while maintaining good rein tension. It can be used with two or four reins or straps. The pressure on the neck is less than with a Pessoa bit or gag bit, thanks to the action of the strap on the chin.

The bit should be rinsed with water after each use to remove saliva and residues. Don't forget to dry it with a towel. If impurities are difficult to remove, you can use a small cleaning brush. Never use a metallic brush, however, as the bristles may scratch the bit, making it uneven and sharp.
