Martingales
A martingale is a training aid designed to regulate the horse’s head carriage and limit excessive upward movement of the neck. Unlike a breastplate, whose primary function is to stabilise the saddle, the martingale acts directly on the reins to help maintain a steadier and more controlled contact.
There are different types of martingales, as well as various fork designs (solid or ringed). These can be adjustable or non-adjustable, allowing riders to tailor the level of action according to the horse, the discipline, and the intended work.
