Gustav Loose rings single jointed - Fager
Sweet iron : Sweet iron alloy oxidizes when in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste which naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Consequently, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to get in touch with its mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.

Expert opinion
Gustav is constructed with a 100% super smooth surface, even around the joints which are designed to never interfere with or push against the palate. It is a very comfortable bit that shapes naturally around the tongue and relieves the bars from constant pressure. Thanks to the smooth joints, this bit is a good option for horses who can overreact when you take the reins and have a hard time keeping a consistent contact with the bit.
Gustav is an ideal design for sensitive-mouthed horses who need to lay more on the bit and can overreact when you take the reins.
NOTE: Gustav can be used in two ways: Either with tongue relief or with bar relief.
For tongue relief - If you would describe your horse as the following:
- Inconsistent in the contact.
- Pulls away or up when you take up the reins.
- Attempts to put their tongue over the bit.
- Fussy mouthed.
For bar relief - Turn the bit upside down. If you would describe your horse as the following:
- Inconsistent in the contact.
- Stiff or rigid to ride.
- Bites on the bit, attempts to pull it back.
- Doesn’t seek the contact towards the bit.
- Drops the contact.
- Falls behind the hand.
