Our expert's opinion
The Weymouth shanks provide precise leverage, allowing refined communication while the curb chain distributes pressure evenly. The straight mouthpiece with its forward-angled V-shaped tongue port encourages pressure to remain primarily on the tongue rather than the bars, improving comfort for sensitive horses while leaving more room for the bridoon. The Sweet Iron alloy stimulates salivation and encourages better bit acceptance, promoting a lighter and more consistent contact.
Description
The Fager Sebastian Weymouth bit is designed for sensitive horses that require quicker, more precise rein aids while maintaining a consistent and stable contact. It is especially suitable for horses that are sensitive to tongue pressure or need additional room for the bridoon.
The straight mouthpiece features a forward-angled 90° V-shaped tongue port, giving the tongue greater freedom without increasing pressure on the bars. When the curb rein is engaged, the mouthpiece naturally rotates towards the tongue for a more comfortable pressure distribution.
Made from grey Sweet Iron, it encourages salivation and helps the horse accept the bit more willingly. Its pleasant taste promotes a steady contact, particularly in young or unbalanced horses.
The Weymouth shanks provide precise and progressive leverage. Combined with the supplied curb chain, they distribute pressure between the mouth, poll and chin to improve communication while maintaining comfort.
The mouthpiece delivers accurate aids while reducing pressure points on the bars. This design is particularly well suited to horses that are prone to soreness around the bars and corners of the mouth.
Material
Sweet Iron is a coating applied over a stainless steel core. As it naturally oxidises when exposed to moisture, it develops a slightly sweet taste that stimulates salivation and encourages the horse to accept a steadier, more consistent contact. The brown-grey surface oxidation that develops over time is completely normal and does not affect the bit's performance.
