Hugo Sweet iron eggbut - Fager

The Fager Hugo eggbutt bit is designed for horses that struggle with an inconsistent contact, hesitate to take the rein forward, or benefit from a steadier connection. Its reversible design allows the rider to choose between two different mouthpiece functions depending on the horse's needs.

The double-jointed mouthpiece features the Front Lock system and can be fitted in two directions. In the recommended position, it progressively locks under rein pressure to provide the stability of a straight bar while maintaining the flexibility of a double-jointed bit. Reversed, it works as a traditional double-jointed bit while preventing the horse from pulling the bit back to chew on it.

The small tongue relief reduces direct tongue pressure, making it suitable for sensitive horses that open the mouth, pull on the reins or move the tongue excessively. The Sweet Iron coating encourages salivation and motivates the horse to seek a steadier contact.

The fixed eggbutt rings provide a stable connection between the reins and the mouthpiece, creating a quieter and more consistent feel. This design reduces unnecessary movement and is particularly beneficial for horses that gain confidence with a more stable bit. The mouthpiece thickness distributes pressure evenly while maintaining precise communication.

The mouthpiece features a Sweet Iron coating over a stainless steel core. When exposed to moisture and air, the Sweet Iron naturally oxidises and develops a brownish-grey surface. This is completely normal and creates a slightly sweet taste that stimulates salivation and encourages the horse to seek a softer, more consistent contact with the bit.
