Eggbutt rings prevent pinching of the lips and provide a more stable feel against the sides of the head. They also prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth. Pressure release is slower than with loose rings and introduces a slight poll action. The Elliptical model is stronger than the Control Plate, as it concentrates pressure over a smaller surface area. This bit is suitable for horses that tend to push against the bit with their tongue. It encourages the horse to lower its head and engage its neck, allowing for better control and balance. Bomber recommends this classic mouthpiece for both training and competition. It applies more pronounced pressure on the tongue than the plate model, while exerting similar pressure on the bars, which helps promote lowering of the head.
