The preformed straight Verdun bit provides comfort in the horse's mouth by distributing the pressure points. It acts globally on the tongue and bars. It is recommended for horses with a sensitive palate or a flat palate. The straight bit allows the rider to obtain a symmetrical action. Its straight barrel encourages the horse to come to rest on the bit. It is recommended for horses that tend to run away from the contact, to dig the back but also horses with a sensitive palate or a flat palate. The Verdun bit has D-shaped rings and has a slight leverage action. They only rotate along one axis of rotation, which prevents pinching of the corner of the mouth. The flat side of the D-ring makes this bit more directive than an olive or ring snaffle but less so than a needle bit. The passes fix the bit and allow a more direct action.
