The double joint provides good mobility to the bit, helping to achieve relaxation in horses that tend to lean on straight (mullen) bits. It offers good freedom of movement in the horse’s mouth. Through the rotation of the tongue plate on the tongue, it helps bring the horse’s nose closer to the rider. This bit may be recommended for horses that are not very sensitive in the tongue and mouth in general, that have difficulty collecting, maintaining balance, or that tend to fall forward under their own weight.
