Description
The Abbey straight Swales bit with tongue passage has many advantages thanks to its alloy and the shape of its barrel. It provides comfort for horses with thick tongues. The fact that it is straight ensures symmetrical left/right contact from the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these features allow the horse to gain confidence in its mouth, settle down, and stretch out.
It is an ideal bit for strong horses that may be asymmetrical in contact.
The Swales bit is very similar to the Pelham bit or the bridle bit. However, it avoids pressure on the neck because the top rings are not attached to the barrels. The snaffle bit is the only bit with a lever that does not act on the neck. This bit can be used with 2 or 4 reins. Either 4 reins (mobile rings on top and small rings on the bottom) or with rings. The two movable rings on the bit are used to fix the snaffle posts and the reins or rings and are placed on each side of the horse's mouth.
Material
Stainless steel : Stainless steel is a common material that does not oxidise. Due to their nature, stainless steel bits are very solid and do not damage over time. This bit has copper rollers which gives the horse a pleasant taste when it comes into contact with the mouth. The rollers encourages the horse to play with the bit, resulting in salivation and increasing the relaxation of the mouth.
