The Tom Thumb bit has both a lowering and elevating effect, helping you to rebalance the horse's weight toward the hindquarters. The larger or longer the rings, the greater and more severe the leverage effect. The reins can be attached directly to the lower ring or using connectors between the middle and lower rings. The lower ring is slightly curved, which increases the action on the poll and tongue compared to a traditional Pessoa bit.
