The Shires Tom Thumb double jointed allows for better relaxation of the horse's mouth. Indeed, unlike the single jointed which acts on the palate which is a sensitive part of the horse's mouth, the double jointed acts on the tongue without causing pain.The Tom Thumb bit has a lowering/raising effect and helps you to shift the weight backwards. The larger/longer the rings, the greater and more severe the leverage. You can hang the reins fixed on the bottom ring or with rings on the middle and bottom ring.
