Description
The Trust single jointed tandem bit has relatively fine finishes, limiting any rough edges that could be uncomfortable for the horse's tongue. It offers mobility in the mouthpiece, encouraging the horse to remain in light contact. This is an interesting bit for a horse that is comfortable with its mouth and can be heavy on the hand with straight bits.
The tandem bit is a combination of a hackamore and a bit. It acts on the nose and the jaw via the curb chain. This bit must be used with great precision and allows horses with a lot of strength and energy to be controlled. The curb chain allows for more precise adjustment of the bit's leverage; the tighter it is, the stronger its action. It distributes the pressure on the jaw. It is recommended to use curb chain guards for sensitive horses. Please note that this bit runs small. We recommend choosing one size larger than your usual size.
Material
Sweet iron : Sweet iron alloy oxidizes when in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste which naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Consequently, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to get in touch with its mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
