Our expert's opinion

The “Happy tongue” bit has a lot going for it, providing comfort for horses with sensitive mouths that find it difficult to tense up. In addition to the advantages of titanium, the anatomy of the bit offers maximum space for the tongue, and its “arc” allows optimum distribution of pressure on the bars, tongue and commissures. The fact that it is straight ensures symmetrical left/right contact from the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these elements will enable the horse to gain confidence in his mouthpiece, to come to rest and to tense up. The pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a greater or lesser lowering effect, depending on the size of the prongs and its installation (two- or four-reinse adjustment, rings, curb chain). It's ideal for powerful horses and/or those with a high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit.> Curb protectors are recommended for sensitive horses.> Sold with hooks and curb chain.

Material

Sweet Iron: Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes on contact with moisture in the mouth and air. Oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates saliva production. This corresponds to the effect of sugar given to the horse at the start of the session, but allows this sweet taste to be diffused throughout the work. As a result, this alloy ensures good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse make contact with the mouthpiece. Oxidation modifies the appearance of the bit as the session progresses.
