Description
: The Pelham medium port bit with tongue port offers many advantages thanks to its alloy and barrel shape. It provides comfort for horses that are sensitive in the mouth and find it difficult to tense up. The anatomy of the bit offers maximum space for the tongue, and its tongue passage ensures optimum distribution of pressure on the bars, tongue and commissures. A straight bit ensures symmetrical left/right contact between hand and mouth, and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these features will enable the horse to gain confidence in his mouthpiece and come to rest.
Its sweet iron alloy encourages the horse to chew and salivate, providing relaxation.
The pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a greater or lesser lowering effect, depending on the size of the branches and its installation (two- or four-rein adjustment, rings, curb chain). It is ideal for powerful horses and/or those with a high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit. Curb protectors are recommended for sensitive horses.

Material
Sweet iron: Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes on contact with moisture in the mouth and air. Oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates saliva production. This corresponds to the effect of sugar given to the horse at the start of a session, but allows this sweet taste to be diffused throughout the work. As a result, this alloy ensures good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse make contact with the mouthpiece. Oxidation modifies the appearance of the bit as the session progresses.
