Expert's Opinion : The Trust straight leather bit provides a constant and symmetrical contact. It helps to make contact with the bit and is more suitable for horses that have difficulty with articulated bits. The straight barrel exerts direct pressure on the tongue and bars, while freeing the palate. The fact that it is straight ensures a symmetrical left/right contact of the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these elements will allow the horse to gain confidence in his mouthpiece, to come to rest and to stretch himself, it is an ideal bit for a young horse. Leather is a natural material that is very pleasant for the horse and stimulates chewing and salivation. The barrel is soft, which encourages the horse to stretch on the bit and put his hindquarters under it. 

The pessoa/olives version offers a lowering effect while providing good contact. In fact, the olives (fixed bit) offer more direct contact between the hand and the horse's mouth, encouraging him to seek tension. It protects the commissures from any risk of pinching. The leverage action is less pronounced than on a classic pessoa, as pressure is exerted more on the mouth with the olive.
