Description
: The Waterford eggbutt bit from Trust is a waterfor bit in sweet iron. It has four breaks. This bit offers asymmetrical contact between the hand and the horse's mouth due to its articulation and the mobility it offers. This bit is recommended for horses that tend to land on their hands excessively. The multiple breaks will encourage the horse to take charge of its forehand. The combination of the Waterford barrel and the full cheek makes this bit particularly suitable for a heavy horse in the mouth.
The pessoa/olives version offers a lowering effect while providing good contact. In fact, the olives (fixed bit) offer more direct contact between the hand and the horse's mouth, encouraging him to seek tension. It protects the commissures from any risk of pinching. The leverage action is less pronounced than on a classic pessoa, as pressure is exerted more on the mouth with the olive.
Material
Sweet iron: Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes on contact with moisture from the mouth and air. Oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates saliva production. This corresponds to the effect of sugar given to the horse at the start of the session, but allows this sweet taste to be diffused throughout the work. As a result, this alloy ensures good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse make contact with the mouthpiece. Oxidation changes the appearance of the bit over the course of the sessions.
