Our expert's opinion
The Trust straight sliding-cheek Weymouth bit combines the leverage action of short or long shanks with the stability of a straight Innosense resin mouthpiece. Long shanks increase pressure on the poll and chin, while the curb chain adjustment allows the intensity to be regulated. The straight mouthpiece distributes pressure across the tongue and bars, promoting symmetrical contact. The flexible version may encourage hesitant horses to seek a more consistent connection, while the rigid version provides a more stable feel. The smooth Innosense resin improves comfort and bit acceptance, while the sliding-cheek mechanism provides some mouthpiece mobility and may reduce tension during changes in contact.
Description
The Trust Innosense straight sliding-cheek Weymouth bit is designed for horses with sensitive mouths or those struggling to maintain consistent contact with jointed bits. Available with short or long shanks and a flexible or rigid mouthpiece, it allows riders to adapt the contact to the horse's needs.
Its straight mouthpiece distributes pressure across the tongue and bars while avoiding direct contact with the palate. It promotes symmetrical rein action and prevents pinching associated with joints, helping the horse accept more consistent contact.
Trust Innosense resin features a smooth, soft surface, making it suitable for sensitive horses or those producing little saliva. The flexible version encourages the horse to seek contact, while the rigid version provides greater stability and may help reduce excessive leaning on the bit.
The shanks apply leverage pressure to the poll and chin through the curb chain. Long shanks increase leverage compared with short shanks. The sliding-cheek mechanism allows slight vertical movement of the mouthpiece, following the movements of the mouth and helping to reduce certain tensions.
The curb chain adjustment allows the intensity of the action to be regulated. Supplied with a curb chain.
Material
Resin: Trust Innosense resin is a food-grade synthetic material with a smooth, soft surface. It provides comfortable contact, particularly for horses with sensitive mouths or limited saliva production. Innosense mouthpieces feature an internal metal reinforcement that contributes to their strength. The flexible version follows mouth movements more easily, while the rigid version provides greater mouthpiece stability.
Warning: This material is vulnerable and is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty against wear caused by chewing. It is strongly advised not to use a severely damaged bit, as it may injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
