Expert opinion
: The Shires double snaffle bit is a double snaffle bit that offers a single contact. It allows a better relaxation of your horse's mouth by a smoother transmission of your aids. Unlike the single bit which acts on the palate, the double bit acts on the tongue without causing pain. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. The free rings offer a soft contact to the mouth. They allow a slight indirect contact compared to fixed rings, which makes it easier to play in the fingers and limit excessive tension. The middle of the bit is made of copper alloy, which gives the horse a pleasant taste when it comes into contact with the mouth, stimulating chewing and salivation. The sweet iron works effectively to increase acceptance and consistent contact. The loose rings provide a soft contact without leverage and allow easy play in the fingers to relax the horse's forehand.
Material
Sweet iron : Sweet iron alloy oxidizes when in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste which naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Consequently, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to get in touch with its mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
