The mullen flexible pelham bit offers many advantages. Its straight barrel allows it to rest simultaneously on the bars, commissures and tongue to divide the pressure and promote acceptance of the bit. It's ideal for working on a horse's suppleness, as it avoids any break in mouth tension.
The pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a greater or lesser lowering effect, depending on the size of the branches and its installation (two- or four-rein adjustment, rings, curb chain). It is ideal for powerful horses and/or those with a high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit.
The supple straight barrel encourages the horse to tense up on the mouthpiece, thanks to a more symmetrical contact between the hand and the mouth. It avoids any risk of pinching the tongue or palate.
Material
Material : A bespoke PVC tube offers an exceptionally soft option, by applying even pressure over the tongue and bars. Particularly suited to the horse that objects to metal. The bombers tube is UV resistant, heavy metal free meaning it is non-toxic and the pigment is FDA approved.
Caution : This material is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
