Description
The Rogan hackamore consists of a steering ring, extended by two rods to the end of which the reins are attached. A hackamore is used with opposite reins (supporting reins). It has a very powerful leverage effect: its severity comes from the support on the fragile bones of the muzzle, and under the lower jaw, of a more or less 'hard' curb chain (made of leather or metal chain) which grips this sensitive part of the horse's head. It is now used on show jumping courses, sometimes as a double bit to combine the two actions. In all cases, it requires a light, experienced hand. This bit has a strong action because the branches are long.
The noseband is rubber-covered, while the curb strap is leather. The noseband should be adjusted so that it rests on the bony part of the nose, not on the soft cartilage.
It is supplied with a PVC-covered chain noseband and a leather back strap.
Total length of nosepiece: 200 mm / 240 mm
