Our expert's opinion

Fager Niklas is a stable barrelled sweet-tasting bit with bar relief. This bit is a good choice for horses that can get too stiff on a traditional straight bit, but are too worried/unstable in a jointed bit. It's also a good choice for horses who need a stable bit to seek a stable contact with. The barrelled tube mouthpiece creates a fast, natural lock in any direction, making Niklas an ideal solution for horses who need encouragement to actively seek more contact and get a stable feeling without getting stiff like on a straight bit. The Niklas design is well suited to horses who have wear on the teeth and need a bit that protects the teeth. It's also very gentle to the bars. Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, allowing them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer. Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can be slightly stiff or hard in the mouth.

Material

Sweet iron : Sweet iron alloy oxidizes when in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste which naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Consequently, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to get in touch with its mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
