Expert opinion
: The Zilco Dee bit is a single jointed anatomical. It allows for accurate transmission of your aids. Unlike the double jointed which acts on the tongue, the single bit acts on the palate. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. It can be recommended for horses with a hollow palate or not very sensitive palate. Its thin mouthpiece optimizes space in the mouth, and its anatomical "curved" shape makes it more pleasant to use.
The Dee bit has D-shaped rings, giving it a slight leverage action. They rotate on one axis only, which prevents pinching of the corners of the mouth. The flat side of the D-ring makes this bit more directional than an olive or ring snaffle, but less so than a full cheek bit.
Material
Sweet Iron : This alloy oxidizes on contact with mouth moisture and air. Oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates saliva production. This corresponds to the effect of sugar given to the horse at the start of the session, but allows this sweet taste to be diffused throughout the work. As a result, this alloy ensures good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse make contact with the mouthpiece. Oxidation modifies the appearance of the bit as the session progresses.
