The Shires Universal double jointed allows for better relaxation of the horse's mouth. Indeed, unlike the single jointed which acts on the palate which is a sensitive part of the horse's mouth, the double jointed acts on the tongue without causing pain. The 3 rings or Universal bit has a lowering/raising effect and helps you to shift the weight backwards. The larger/longer the rings, the greater and more severe the leverage. You can hang the reins fixed on the bottom ring or with rings on the middle and bottom ring.Cheek height: 125mm (4.5, 5), 145mm (5.5)
Material
Sweet Iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
