It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. Its barrel is thin which allows the horse not to have too much material in the mouth. The eggbutt has oval rings. They turn only along one axis of rotation, which avoids any pinching of the corners of the mouth. The soft contact barrel allows a better distribution of the pressure on the whole tongue.
