: This bit has many advantages. It provides comfort for horses that are sensitive in the mouth and have difficulty stretching. The anatomy of the bit offers maximum space for the tongue and its "arch" allows for optimal distribution of pressure on the bars, tongue and commissures. The fact that it is straight ensures a symmetrical left/right contact of the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these elements will allow the horse to gain confidence in its mouthpiece, to come and rest and to stretch itself. This mouthpiece is particularly adapted to horses which do not tolerate the pressure exerted on the tongue and which react by shaking their head for example. The pelham is very similar to the bridle bit. It still has a large ring in the barrel, which allows a second pair of reins or a pair of wedding rings to be attached. The functioning of the pelham and its severity depend essentially on the point of attachment of the reins. When used on the top ring, the pelham is slightly lifting. This bit is a little more powerful than a simple snaffle. When used on the bottom ring, the pelham is lowering, in this use, the pelham is a powerful bit.
