Pelham cable bit long shanks - Bombers

The Bombers long-shank cable Pelham is designed for powerful and/or forward-going horses that require increased control while maintaining mobility in the mouth.

Its flexible cable mouthpiece rests across the bars, corners of the mouth and tongue to distribute pressure. When rein pressure is applied, the mouthpiece flexes and increases pressure more on the bars and corners than on the tongue. As the pressure is released, it quickly returns to its initial position, helping maintain a consistent contact.

Sweet Iron naturally oxidises when exposed to moisture and develops a characteristic taste that encourages salivation and may help improve acceptance of the bit.

The Pelham is a fixed leverage bit that acts on the mouth, poll and chin through the curb chain. Its long shanks increase the leverage effect. The intensity varies according to the curb chain adjustment and whether the bit is used with two or four reins, or with Pelham roundings.

The flexibility of the cable also allows a more independent action from each rein and helps limit breaks in the contact.
