Expert opinion : The double snaffle "cable" bit is a bit that offers multiple advantages. Its anatomically shaped barrel allows it to rest simultaneously on the bars, the mouthpiece and the tongue in order to divide the pressure and promote the acceptance of the bit. The flexible cable allows the bit to keep its initial position as long as no pressure is exerted on the reins. As soon as pressure is applied to the reins, the bit flexes and the pressure increases more on the bars and commissures than on the tongue. The cable prevents any risk of pinching. Then, as soon as the pressure decreases, the bit immediately returns to its initial position, which offers a lot of peace of mind for the horse.

It is very interesting to work on the flexibility of a horse because it avoids any break in the tension of the mouth. Moreover, the flexion of the cable allows an independent action of one rein in relation to the other thanks to the pivot allowed by the central cable.

The pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a more or less important lowering effect depending on the size of the branches and its installation (two or four rein adjustment, rings, curb chain).

It is interesting on powerful horses and/or horses with a relatively high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit.

BARREL THICKNESS

*Unless mentioned in the options, the thickness of the barrel is :

Size (mm) Barrel thickness (mm)
< 115 12
115 - 130 14
> 130 16

Please note : This bit is small, we advise you to take 1 size above.

> It is advisable to use curb chain protectors for sensitive horses.

Sweet Iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.

Caution : The central material (cable) is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
