Expert opinion : The Abbey double barrel loose ring has a strong action. Double barrel bits are best used with an experienced hand for horses that are not very sensitive and can be heavy on the hand. This bit can be recommended for horses that are not very sensitive in the tongue and mouth in general, that have difficulty compacting, balancing or that are carried forward by their mass. Loose rings offer a soft contact to the mouth. They allow for a slight indirect contact compared to fixed rings, which makes it easier to play in the fingers and limit excessive tension.
