The Tandem bit is used with only one rein. It acts by pressure on the muzzle, the branches of the lower jaw and the nape of the neck: by increasing the traction of the reins, a slight lifting effect of the bit is also obtained. This bit is particularly suitable for horses that are too sensitive to the effect of a bit in the mouth but cannot be ridden with a hackamore either. The blocked double snaffle bit surrounds the horse's tongue thanks to the curvature of its barrel ends. Because of its blocking, it keeps the angle around the tongue and cannot pinch. It has a more precise action than a classic double snaffle bit and allows to keep a better tension while encouraging the horse not to lean on his bit.
Material
Sweet iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
