Expert opinion
: The MATS loose rings bit is a double-broken sweet iron bit with a tongue passage. The shape of its barrel offers room for the horse's tongue. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for horses with a sensitive tongue that can shake their head with a more conventional bit. The quality of the finish of its sweet iron barrel and the fineness of the breaks make it particularly comfortable. The MATS bits will never push against the sides of the palate or exert uneven pressure on the bars. A very comfortable bit that naturally follows the shape of the tongue.
Material
Sweet Iron: Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
