Gum guard - Protec

The Protec system provides a concrete answer to the oral injuries commonly observed in horses, even those under careful care. These lesions typically appear on the gums covering the mandibular bars, the direct point of contact with the bit. Despite a light hand and well-fitted equipment, pressure on this sensitive zone can cause discomfort, tension, or loss of contact. Until now, no solution has provided a lasting answer for horses that require both comfort and precision.

Protec was designed specifically to meet this challenge: an innovative gum guard that improves bit tolerance without compromising the quality of communication between horse and rider.

The concept is based on a smooth sheath, positioned over the bars, which:

• Distributes pressure

• Absorbs shocks

• Protects the mucous membranes

• Maintains a high level of sensitivity

The horse remains responsive and available, while enjoying greatly improved oral comfort, which helps reduce resistance, evasions, and defensive behaviors.

Easy to install, the system is placed between the bit and the gums, along the bars. It is held in place by a set of pads designed to adapt to the noseband without interfering with its adjustment.

The PROTEC gum guard fits most bridles equipped with a French or combination noseband. It is not compatible with German or cross‑under cavessons
