Our expert's opinion
The Baucher cheekpieces keep the bit stable in the mouth, creating a secure contact that improves relaxation and precision. The double-jointed mouthpiece with its large centre piece provides tongue relief while applying targeted pressure only when the horse leans, encouraging a lighter feel without continuous pressure. The Sweet Iron alloy promotes salivation and bit acceptance, helping to create a steadier and more consistent connection.
Description
The Fager Gabriel Baucher bit is designed for strong horses that lean on the bit, have an inconsistent contact, or feel unresponsive despite being sensitive to the aids. It promotes a steadier connection while providing a quicker response when rein aids are applied.
Its double-jointed mouthpiece features a large centre piece positioned lower than the joints. This design creates tongue relief while increasing targeted tongue pressure only when the horse becomes heavy in the hand, encouraging a lighter contact without constant pressure.
The Sweet Iron coating naturally oxidises over time, creating a sweet taste that encourages salivation, improves bit acceptance and promotes a more consistent connection.
The Baucher cheekpieces keep the mouthpiece exceptionally stable, offering a secure and consistent feel. They reduce movement within the mouth, relieve pressure on the lips and can be particularly beneficial for horses with sensitive mouth corners or premolar wear.
The mouthpiece thickness provides balanced pressure distribution while maintaining precise communication thanks to the distinctive centre piece design.
Matière
Sweet Iron is a coating applied over a stainless steel mouthpiece. As it naturally oxidises when exposed to moisture, it develops a brownish-grey surface with a slightly sweet taste that encourages salivation and helps the horse seek a softer, steadier contact. This natural oxidation is completely normal and does not affect the bit's performance.
