Expert opinion
Julia's double-jointed mouthpiece has a tongue relief, relieving constant pressure. This bit is a good option for horses that can get on and off in the contact, lean on the bit where you want a consistent contact without the horse getting unresponsive, stiff and strong. The Roller is positioned further down than the joints to increase the point-pressure on the tongue. Creating pressure when your horse pulls or feels heavy in your hand without creating consistent pressure. The roller also allows horses something to play with, perfect for horses who can feel numb to the contact.
A Beval bit has a similar effect to a 2½ & 3 Ring Snaffle, but has a softer effect and less leverage. Gives a flexible, soft feeling in the hand.
This bit can be used with the reins in multiple positions depending on what effect you'd like from the bit.
It can also be used with a gag rein thanks to the special design with bent loop rings on the inside. The gag rein can slide smoothly in the loop rings.
Material
Sweet Iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
