Eggbutt double jointed Barrel - AJR

The AJR Barrel Eggbutt Straight Bit is suited to horses that benefit from a stable mouthpiece while maintaining some independence between the action of each rein. Its curved shape provides additional room underneath the mouthpiece for the tongue, particularly when the reins are not engaged.

The straight mouthpiece incorporates AJR's Independent Movement System (IMS). The central barrel acts as a joint, allowing the side under rein pressure to rotate independently and reducing the transfer of the aid across the entire mouthpiece.

Made from stainless steel, this bit provides a durable and neutral surface in the mouth. When rein contact is applied, the mouthpiece rotates towards the tongue to create pressure and encourage the horse to respond to the rider's hand.

The eggbutt rings provide lateral stability and a more fixed contact than loose rings. They also reduce movement of the mouthpiece around the corners of the lips.

At 12 mm thick, the mouthpiece is relatively thin and therefore concentrates pressure more than a thicker mouthpiece. Its curved profile nevertheless provides additional space for the tongue.

Stainless steel is a strong and durable alloy commonly used for bits. Neutral in the mouth, it provides a smooth and consistent surface in contact with the tongue and bars.
