Expert opinion : The Abbey single jointed is a fine anatomical bit. Unlike the double jointed which acts on the tongue, the single jointed acts on the palate and the sides of the tongue. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. It can be recommended for horses that are relatively easy but not very sensitive in the mouth, not very sensitive on the palate or with a hollow palate. The free rings offer a soft contact to the mouth. They allow for a slight indirect contact compared to fixed rings, which makes it easier to play in the fingers and limit excessive tension.
Stainless steel : Stainless steel is a common alloy that does not oxidize. By their nature, stainless steel bits are very strong and do not get damaged over time.
