Expert opinion : The Metalab leather snaffle bit is an anatomically designed bit that offers a simple and comfortable contact. It allows a good relaxation of your horse's mouth thanks to its leather alloy and a smoother transmission of your aids. Unlike the double snaffle bit which acts on the tongue, the single snaffle bit acts on the palate. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. It can be recommended for horses that are relatively easy but sensitive in the mouth, not very sensitive in the palate or with a hollow palate. It is ideal for training young horses. The "pinchless" joint is a mechanism that prevents involuntary pinching of the tongue or corners of the mouth. It allows the bit to never constrain the tongue movements. It dissociates the rider's hand actions. It helps to provide confidence for the horse in the rider's hand. It improves the connection and relaxation of the horse. The Verdun bit has D-shaped rings, it has a slight leverage action. They only rotate along one axis of rotation, which prevents pinching of the corners of the mouth. The flat side of the D-ring makes this bit more directive than an olive or ring snaffle but less so than a needle bit. The passes fix the bit and allow a more direct action.
Leather : Leather is a natural material that is very pleasant for the horse and stimulates chewing and salivation. It avoids the cold contact of some metal bits. The production of saliva softens the leather and makes it more pleasant for the horse.
Caution : This material is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
