Expert opinion : The Umbria goyo-aga bit is a double snaffle bit that offers a simple contact. It allows a better relaxation of your horse's mouth by a smoother transmission of your aids. Unlike the single bit which acts on the palate, the double bit acts on the tongue without causing pain. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. The Goyo-Aga bit, mainly used in Iberian riding, has a fairly strong action. It is used with a curb chain and puts pressure on the bars with a leverage effect. It is recommended mainly for horses with a lot of natural impulsion. The Goyo Aga bit can be used in 3 ways:
- Soft, with the reins attached to the top notch, it is halfway between the effect of the olive bit and the baucher.
- Medium, with the reins in the middle notch, where the leverage is less than if the rein is tied down.
- Severe, with the reins in the bottom notch, where the leverage is greater.
The curb chain allows the intensity of the bit to be varied. The leverage can be more or less attenuated. It is advisable to use curb chain guards for sensitive horses.
