Expert opinion : The Abbey straight eggbutt with rollers and tongue passage is a straight bit that promotes contact while maintaining control. It offers stability and serenity to the horse because of the constant position of the barrel in the mouth. The straight bit allows for a symmetrical "left/right" contact of the hand action on the horse's mouth. This reduces the pressure through a better distribution of the pressure. This is why some riders use it as soon as they break-in. The tongue passage allows more comfort for the horse since it frees space for the tongue and allows the pressure to be exerted simultaneously on the bars, the commissures and the tongue. The eggbutt bit has oval-shaped rings. They rotate only along one axis of rotation, which avoids any pinching of the corner of the mouth.
Stainless steel : Stainless steel is a common material that does not oxidise. Due to their nature, stainless steel bits are very solid and do not damage over time. This bit has copper rollers which gives the horse a pleasant taste when it comes into contact with the mouth. The rollers encourages the horse to play with the bit, resulting in salivation and increasing the relaxation of the mouth.
