The verdun bit has D-shaped rings, it has a slight lever action. They rotate only on an axis of rotation, which avoids pinching the corners of the lips. The flat side of the D-ring makes this bit more directional than an olive or ring net but less than a needle bit. Passes secure the bit and allow for more direct action.
