Expert opinion : Mia is a lightweight double-jointed bit with a special lockup function. The mouthpiece of Mia gives bar relief and locks upwards, which can be good for horses with a low palate, small tongue and sensitive bars. The bit doesn't lock forward like a normal lockup bit, which means that you won't get the stiff feeling of a straight bit.
The joints are rotated away from the tongue, which gives a more gentle, smooth pressure on the tongue. This can be good for horses that can overreact when you take the reins and need to keep the consistent contact through every movement. The lightweight material lets you keep a light feeling in the hand.
Titanium: The titanium alloy has a number of advantages. First and foremost, it is ultra-light and soft to the touch, making it more discreet for the horse and therefore more comfortable. It helps relieve tension in the neck area. Titanium has a relaxing effect, encouraging the production of saliva, which helps to relax neck muscles. Titanium is coated with dioxide, making it antibacterial.
