Expert opinion : The Sweet Iron 2 ring bit from BR is a double bit with a cherry roller. It allows a good relaxation of your horse's mouth due to its alloy. Unlike the single bit which acts on the palate, the double bit acts on the tongue without causing pain. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. This bit, thanks to its rollers, allows a better relaxation, ideal for horses having a tendency to freeze, or having difficulty to relax. The two ring bit allows less direct contact with the mouth, the horse has the possibility to move the bit with his tongue, which improves the relaxation.
Sweet Iron : The Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes in contact with the humidity of the mouth and the air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. This alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to get in touch with its mouthpiece. The oxidation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions but does not alter its efficiency.
If a Sweet Iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer might appear on the mouthpiece. This can be easily removed by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.
