Expert's opinion: The Shires Pelham double jointed allows for better relaxation of the horse's mouth. Indeed, unlike the single jointed which acts on the palate which is a sensitive part of the horse's mouth, the double jointed acts on the tongue without causing pain. The rings help to get the horse's attention and help him to relax his jaw on the bit in order to obtain a pleasant tension that is conducive to relaxation.

This bit has the particularity of resembling the bridle bit, but on the contrary it still has a big ring at the level of the barrel, which allows to fix a second pair of reins or a pair of rings. Its leverage can vary depending on the size of its branches, the location of the reins and the setting of the curb chain. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit. It is recommended to use curb chain guards for sensitive horses. The Pelham allows you to close the angle between the head and neck, it is ideal for strong horses that can open up on the hand.

Cheek height: 125mm (4.5), 130mm (5), 140mm (5.5, 6).

Sweet Iron : Sweet Iron alloy oxidizes upon contact with moisture in the mouth and air. The oxidation brings a sweet taste that naturally stimulates the production of saliva. This corresponds to the effect of a sugar that is given to the horse at the beginning of the session but allows to diffuse this sweet taste throughout the work. Therefore, this alloy allows a good acceptance of the bit and helps the horse to make contact with the mouthpiece. The oxydation modifies the aspect of the bit during the sessions.
