Expert's Opinion: The Waldhausen baby pelham straight bit provides constant, symmetrical contact. It helps the horse make contact with the bit, and is best suited to horses that find it difficult to tense up with articulated bits. The straight barrel exerts direct pressure on the tongue and bars, while freeing the palate. The fact that it is straight ensures symmetrical left/right contact from the hand to the mouth and eliminates any risk of pinching the tongue. All these features enable the horse to gain confidence in his mouthpiece, to come to rest and tense up, making it an ideal bit for a young horse.
The Pelham is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a greater or lesser lowering effect depending on the size of the branches and its installation (two or four rein adjustment, rings, curb chain). It's ideal for powerful horses and/or those with a high blood pressure to channel their energy. The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit. Curb protectors are recommended for sensitive horses.

Material : Resin provides a softer contact that encourages relaxation. Resin jaws remain at room temperature. They offer a soft contact but are less tender and thick than a rubber bit. Apple flavor encourages chewing.
Caution : This material is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
