Expert opinion: Double snaffle bits distribute rein pressure over a wider area. All Sprenger SENSOGAN and AURIGAN double snaffle bits are adapted to the horse's mouth, making them more comfortable and effective. Double snaffle bits are recommended for horses with a sensitive or flat palate. 

Novocontact bits are designed to create a unique oval shape that avoids the contact surface on the tongue while maintaining constant contact with the rider. As the rider makes contact, the mouthpiece turns forward and the contact surface becomes narrower, ensuring more precise and effective communication. Novocontact barrels improve precision between horse and rider for better contact, more precise but gentle aids and better bit acceptance.

Tests have shown that single-joint novocontact bits are highly recommended for horses that do not accept contact with confidence.

Double-jointed novocontact bits are also ideal for use on horses that sometimes tend to pull against the hand, but are too sensitive to be ridden with stronger bits.

Fixed olive, verdun or needle rings transmit rein tension directly to the tongue and lower jaw, with no leverage on the nape of the neck. The action is more direct, and also acts laterally. The larger the ring, the greater the lateral action. Fixed rings provide greater comfort for the corners of the mouth, with no risk of pinching. They are recommended for horses that are unstable, have sensitive commissures, or may be a little heavy on the hand.
