Expert opinion: The Abbey Rubber Nelson gag Bit is a single curl bit that offers a soft contact due to its alloy. Unlike the double snaffle bit which acts on the tongue, the single snaffle bit acts on the palate and sides of the tongue. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. It can be recommended for horses that are relatively easy but not very sensitive to the palate or that have a hollow palate. A special feature of the lift bit is that it uses special posts that pass through two rings perpendicular to the bit rings. This feature allows it to be used with two or four reins or with rings. The snaffle reins will then have a traditional lifting effect, and the reins attached to the special posts, a lowering effect. The needle bit allows a better channeling of the horse. The needles placed on both sides of the mouth, allow a better control of the lateral flexion in a young horse and make this bit very directive.

Rubber : Rubber bits are frequently used when breaking in young horses. They are often thick and help with contact.

Caution : This material is vulnerable and is not guaranteed by the manufacturer against wear and tear due to biting. We strongly advise against using a bit that is too damaged, as this could injure the horse's bars, tongue and palate.
