Expert opinion : The rubber needle bit is a simple snap bit that offers a simple contact. It allows a good relaxation of your horse's mouth by a smoother transmission of your aids. Unlike the double snaffle bit which acts on the tongue, the single snaffle bit acts on the palate. It is important to know that the palate of the horse is a sensitive area that should not be neglected. It can be recommended for horses that are relatively easy on the mouth, not very sensitive on the palate or with a hollow palate. The needle bit allows a better channeling of the horse. The needles placed on either side of the mouth act on the nose, allow better control of lateral flexion in a young horse and make this bit more directive.
Rubber : This material is frequently used when breaking in young horses. They are often thick and help with contact. Rubber bits are vulnerable and can quickly become damaged, depending on your horse's dentition.
