Single jointed

Single snaffle bits transmit the rider's aids on the edges of the tongue, and on the bars. When giving a rein action, the bit forms a V shape and exerts a pressure that can be described as a "nutcracker" action. Single snaffle bits are not recommended for horses with a flat palate. It is best used on horses with a hollow palate and no sensitivity of the bars and tongue.
